Kakilang 自己人 produces and presents world-class interdisciplinary art from a wide spectrum of Southeast and East Asian voices. 

We love connecting with artists and offering support whenever we can. Our Associate Artistic Directors, along with the Director, form the creative leadership of our artistic programme. We understand the effort and time artists invest in self-producing, building relationships, and seeking opportunities. This information aims to clarify how you can collaborate with us, and we'd love to hear your thoughts.

Commissions and Productions 

To stay up to date with all our commissions and production roles, we regularly advertise them through open calls. The best way to be informed about these opportunities is by signing up for our mailing list.

While open calls are our primary method, there may be circumstances where we directly approach artists and creatives with whom we already have a relationship. We encourage you to introduce yourself and share your website/portfolio link with us at hello@kakilang.org.uk. This way, we can keep you in mind and share your information when we receive inquiries for recommendations.

Artist Development 

Kakilang organises a year-round programme of workshops, and creative development events for artists called “Finding Our (Creative) Voice” and “Creative Lab”. You can stay informed about  these programmes and events by subscribing to our mailing list. 

Artist Support

In addition to our commissions and artist development programme, our team is pleased to offer general support where we can. Feel free to reach out to any member of the Kakilang team for an initial chat about your work and potential support via email, using the format firstname@kakilang.org.uk or at hello@kakilang.org.uk.

General support might include proofreading applications, providing mentoring, offering letters of support to artists applying for Arts Council England Project Grants and Developing Your Creative Practice fund, or by providing a friendly and creative sounding board for your work and projects.

Inviting us to see your work 

We're always happy to hear about your creative projects and, whenever possible, attend your work. To help us keep track and share information with our team, please fill out this form. Providing us with sufficient notice will increase the likelihood of our attendance.

Information sharing 

We gladly support and promote artists' work. Where possible, we are happy to share relevant productions, projects, call-outs, etc., from artists via our social media channels. Please email information to hello@kakilang.org.uk.
